These past four nights have been really, really weird, but last night might take the cake.

I haven't gotten much sleep lately which is especially bad since I'm sick, but last night I decided that didn't matter and I headed up to the crew bar anyway. There wasn't really anyone I wanted to hang out with, but I ended up chatting for a minute with the male production singer and his girlfriend. They... well I don't remember what happened, but something happened where I had stepped back and was looking for someone else to talk to. There was a guy standing next to me, so I introduced myself to him, figuring I'd make a new friend. He told me his name, I recognized his Scottish accent, I eyed his nametag to learn he was a casino guy... and I asked if he was a worker on the ship I was a guest on last summer. Turns out that yes, yes he was, and not only that but he REMEMBERS me. He didn't remember the amount of money my brother and friends had lost to him in blackjack for that whole half hour I met him, but he remembered making a list of bars I should go to in Glasgow with Laura.

Clearly this random happenstance meant he had to buy me a beer, and a beer meant I spent the evening chatting with the man. He's a nice guy who seems genuinely interested in just being a friend, and I need something like that right now. Even if it's just a HOPE that a guy will just want to be my friend.

And right now I'm relaxing at my favorite crew bar in Cozumel with three of the musicians. K is gone, so his replacement is sitting here instead. It's different, but it's nice. I just got to talk to Reks too! He's in Latvia right now taking care of his sick little sister and is headed to Spain in a few days, so that'll be exciting for him. Getting in touch with Mr. Casino again (I will call him S) is making me feel a lot better about saying good-bye to people.
